A bit of tricky grammar this week, I think! The name of the grant program awarding schools funds for implementing environmental projects does not present a question
that the pupils should try to guess that answer to (i.e. where and how WILL WE live?), but a challenge for them to do something actively to start creating the environment we are going to live in
(i.e. where and how WE WILL live).
In grammatical terms, then, the name contains an Indirect Question - but an indirect question needs a beginning, and this is where the intended meaning becomes clear.
I maintain (tvrdím, not udržiavam) that this is not a question, an inquiry or a request (prosba - Could you tell us how we will live, please?), but it is much stronger; it is a challenge, a task or
an appeal (výzva - Do something now to determine how we will live!). It's all up to our children, because responsible adults are only capable of organizing expensive dinners in Davos or Rio de
Janeiro.
