Concrete. To avoid problems with this word, the best thing is to remember that most usually it means "betón". Concrete is made from a mixture of cement, sand and gravel (small stones), and it was discovered by Fred Flintstone, as shown in the well-known Hollywood film. Well, maybe not, I think probably it was the Ancient Romans, but never mind.

For the last half century it has been used to make the panels required for the tower blocks forming most of the suburban neighborhoods (residential estates) around Slovakian towns, and in many other countries.
