The Social Pavilion in Košice was the venue on March 6 for the official evaluation of the best projects in five categories at U. S. Steel Košice and presentation of awards to the fifteen best project teams in 2017. This event was attended by USSK President Scott Buckiso and other members of the Company's top management.

In the Increasing Company Revenues category first place was taken by the project named Increasing the Speed of Hot Rolling in the Finishing Mill, and in the Reducing Costs category it was taken by the project named Decreasing Downtime due to Drive Breakdowns in the Finishing Mill. In the Enhancing Quality of Products and Customer Service the top award went to the project named Narrowing the Range of Mechanical Properties for Ardagh (phase 3), and in the Innovations category it went to the project entitled Increasing Hot-blast Temperature – a New System of Heat Recovery from BF3 Stoves Flue Glases. The best project in the Safety and Environment category was named Safe Granulation of Blast-furnace Slag.
