METHODS OF TRANSPORTATION
                       

Road transportation

- carried by open trucks with material covered with protective sheets or by closed trucks (domestic and foreign
destinations)

Railway transportation

- carried by open railway carriages with material covered with protective sheets or by closed carriages
(domestic and foreign destinations)

Ship transportation

- open vessels, material covered with coated sheets, or in covered vessels (overseas destinations)

LABELING THE WAY OF PACKING

The way of packing is given by the type of product to be packed, by thetype of recommended storage and by the type of transportation. Each product is labeled with a bar code in accordance with respective European standards. Each type of packing is identified with a five-character code as follows.

WEIGHT AND PACKING
                       

Sheets

are delivered in stacks bound several times with cyclostyle tape depending on their width and length. Sheets might be packed in wrapping paper, protective angles, respectively in metal case.
Stack weight: 2 000 – 5 000 kg.

COILS

are bound with cyclostyle tape twice or 3-times around the circumference and 4-times through the opening. Coils weight: 5,0 – 15,1 kg.mm-1 of width, pickled: 6 000 – 18 000 kg.

STRIPS

are bound with cyclostyle tape twice around the circumference and 4-times through the opening. Individual rolls are bound into stacks twice through the opening. Weight of strips cut in lengths: 3,5 – 15,1 kg.mm-1 of width.

  • sticking tape, plastic angles and support sheets
  • wooden material made of soft deciduous trees, conifers, or of hard wood, at the customer’s request it is supplied without bark and bast or with a phytocertificate
  • protective metallic angles, angular rings and packing made of steel sheet reclassified to non-prime category, without uncoated for DOMESTIC SALES and coated for EXPORTS

Individual requirements 

Type of packing marked “Z” allows for individual custom requirements.
Detailed way of packing agreed between purchaser and respective representative of U. S. Steel Košice, s.r.o. is to be a subject of the sales contract.

Important recommendation

  • coil and bundle strips with horizontal axis can be packaged and supplied as a unit provided that their total width is minimum 1/3 of outer diameter
     
  • coil and bundle strips with vertical axis can be packaged and supplied as a unit, provided that proportion of coil and strip width to its outer diameter does not exceed 7/10
