Between March 25 – 28 of this year U. S. Steel Košice underwent the second in a series of re-certification audits of its Energy Management System in compliance with the EN ISO 50001:2012 standard.

The results of the four-day inspection and the verdict of the auditors from the TÜV SÜD Slovakia certification company were presented at a meeting in the main auditorium in the Company administration building on 28 March attended by Vice President Engineering Activities and Innovation David Hathaway, GM Energy and CO2 Management Ladislav Horváth and the managers of the plants and specialist departments involved. As Chief Auditor Marián Harčarik commented in his closing speech, during the “testing” the three-member auditing team did not find any deviations from the requirements of the standard, and so his summing-up was very positive. “On the very first day we were pleased with the results you have achieved, and after that you just went on positively surprising us. Our impression is that you know how to manage energy very well, you possess very good tools for progressively reducing energy consumption and adapting it to the individual technologies which you are serially implementing. We are in one mind as the auditing team that you fulfill the requirements of the 50001 standard,” he concluded.
