"Where and how we're going to live"

The old Slovan Cinema hall was the venue last week for the grand prize-giving ceremony in the second edition of the annual ecology competition called "Where and how we're going to live", organized by U. S. Steel Kosice with the aim of raising environmental awareness among young people. After a brief presentation to the public by Kosice-South city ward council leader Jaroslav Hlinka concerning the joint project renewing the children's sports and fun playground on Alejova Street in Kosice, which U. S. Steel Kosice is playing a substantial role in reconstructing, the contestants were addressed by the incoming President of the Kosice steelworks David H. Lohr.
The competition was entered by 27 elementary schools in Kosice and its immediate environs. Kakaomania on Children's Day, or Tweety-pie flies to the Land of Safety

U. S. Steel Kosice in cooperation with the Elan entertainments agency are organizing an event for all the children of Kosice and the surrounding area on the occasion of their special day - International Children's Day. This happy morning full of games, competitions and great atmosphere takes place on Sunday, May 29th, at Anicka Park, starting at 10 am.
One of the most important criteria of successful business for U. S. Steel Kosice is safety - and this theme will be dominating this children's morning event. Children will be able to learn in a playful way the most important road traffic rules and find out more about the work of the police, while instructors and staff of the Kosice Rescue Service show them how to provide first aid. The fire brigade will also be coming with two of the great vehicles they use in action, and children will be able to try out in person some of the elements of their work. By doing some short tests children will also have the chance to win some great prizes.
The event's organizers have also thought of the younger ones, preparing various attractions especially or them, such as bouncy castles, face-painting, folk-tales, pony-rides, and their favorite TV presenters - Igor and Martin from the Kakao Show. On stage there will be performances by the dancers of the group M21 and the winner of last year's Talent Night contest Veronika Kupcova. The Slovak Republic's Olympic rifle-shooting representative Jozef Gonci has also accepted the invitation to attend this event. Parachutists will be jumping and landing right in Anicka Park, and the Scouts will be putting up their tent near the stage. The event will be going on until 1 pm.
