Charge d'affaires Scott N. Thayer in Kosice again

The Charge d'affaires at the Embassy of the USA in Bratislava Scott N. Thayer recently took part personally in the ground-breaking and foundation stone laying ceremony for the building of the new galvanizing line at U. S. Steel Kosice. Last week, on the invitation of the American Chamber of Commerce and accompanied by its Executive Director Jake Slegers, he visited Kosice once again to meet managers and business-people from Kosice companies at a working breakfast.
This was also attended by U. S. Steel Kosice President David H. Lohr, Vice-presidents Miroslav Kiralvarga, Peter Richardson and James Connor, and General Counsel Kenneth Pepperney. Scott Thayer spoke of further prospects for Slovak-American relations, assessed the position of Slovakia following accession to the European Union, and reconsidered the visit of US President George Bush to Slovakia. He also praised Slovakia's successes in implementing reforms. As he said, it is also thanks to them that Slovakia is constantly developing, and by establishing proper conditions for business, the country is becoming increasingly attractive for foreign investors.
He also said that the expectations he brought with him to Slovakia have been fulfilled, because on his travels around the country he has personally met many capable and committed managers, and this has convinced him that Slovakia has every chance of being more and more successful.
