and consequently also this project, are identified by the logo "Safety First". Up-to-date information about the project can be found at the site www.safety1.sk.
In February the USSK Gallery will be holding the official opening of an exhibition where the public will be able to get to know a selection of works by young people
which they entered in last year's competition organized by the steelworks focusing on the theme of safety in our lives. This exhibition will consist of photographs, graphics, videos and objects
created by students of schools in the Kosice and Presov regions. The young people presenting their work come for example from the School of Applied Art in Kosice, the private secondary Art School
for Film, TV and Radio Production and Technology in Kosice, and the Department of Visual Arts and Intermedia at the Faculty of Arts of the Technical University in Kosice.
Around 500 students who took part in the competition will be attending the grand opening ceremony of the new ice stadium in Kosice, taking place on February 24th
this year. Their entry "ticket" to this event will be a special ice-hockey shirt inscribedd "Safety First", which they received from U. S. Steel Kosice for their active participation in
the project.

Refrako considers last year demanding, but successful
Success in dealing with last year's demanding conditions on the market for metallurgical refractory materials is reported by Refrako, a subsidiary of U. S. Steel Kosice. In particular the successful tender for the position of principal supplier of fire-resistant building materials as part of the USS initiative for global procurement and purchasing in the USA and Europe, whose aim is to transform purchasing procedures and organizational capacities and minimize overall costs figures, is clear evidence of Refrako's efforts to make its mark on this difficut market.
