USSK gesture as Steelers Cup ends

He came, he saw, he conquered. That's how you might describe the performance by the young (just 20 years old) French tennis player Jeremy Chardy on the Kosice clay, where after brilliant playing in the course of six days he was the best out of 32 players in the 5th edition of the Steelers Cup. In the final of this ATP Challenger Series tournament he met the no.4 player, Denis Gremelmayr from Germany. The culmination of this year's Steelers Cup came to an unexpected and beautiful conclusion.
After presenting the precious trophies to the winners, the organizers announced the amount of the proceeds from the spectators' voluntary admission payments throughout the week of the Challenger tournament. The collected money, just like all the proceeds from charity activities during this event, has been passed on the Children's Hospital in Kosice towards the purchase of a dialysis machine for children with acute and chronic kidney failure. Since this type of machine has a price-tag of 690 000 Slovak crowns, and the collections during the Steelers Cup raised a total of 85 299 Sk, the spectators welcomed with massive applause the next gesture by the tournament's general sponsor U. S. Steel Kosice. Our Company decided to make up the rest of the cost of the machine, and Children's Hospital Director Ludmila Podracka was presented with a symbolic check worth 605 000 Sk by Company President David H. Lohr.
