Safety video for September 2007

For many employees in the steelmaking branch of industry, partial loss of hearing is a very real hazard. The reason for this loss may lie in impairments of hearing caused by long-term exposure to excessive noise. Hearing loss does not directly threaten the life of the sufferer, but it has a distinct impact on the quality of his or her life, and often becomes the cause of problems at work and outside it. Fortunately, hearing loss in the industrial and domestic environments can be successfully prevented through a combination of technical and organizational measures, hearing protection programs, and appropriately chosen personal hearing protection devices (ear defenders) and their correct usage. These programs are the topic of USSK's safety video for September.
