New USSK lecture-hall opened at TU

A new multi-purpose, wheelchair-access lecture-hall, comprehensively reconstructed with financial support from U. S. Steel Kosice, was brought into use on Monday of this week, September 22nd, the day of the official opening of the academic year, for students of the Technical University in Kosice. The new lecture-hall bears the name of the Kosice steel company, and its opening was naturally attended by U. S. Steel Kosice President George F. Babcoke, together with Kosice Self-governing Region Chairman Zdenko Trebula. The hall has a capacity of 210 places, it is equipped with the most up-to-date technical facilities, and it incorporates interpreters' booths as well.
"This is the result of long-term cooperation between our university and U. S. Steel Kosice, which is aimed primarily at increasing young people's interest in studying technical subjects, because the lack of university graduates with technical degrees is becoming the number-one problem in practice. I also expect our cooperation to expand into the areas of science, research and innovation," said TU Kosice Rector Anton Cizmar at the opening ceremony.
