Amendment No.2 to Collective Agreement 2012-2014 is signed
The Collective Agreement for the years 2012 to 2014, which applies to U. S. Steel Kosice, U. S. Steel Kosice - SBS and U. S. Steel Kosice - Labortest was extended in recent days with Amendment No.2. The content of this document was prepared in response to the changes in the Labor Code which came into effect on January 1, 2013, and it was signed on March 27 at a meeting attended by labor union leaders and Company management representatives. The signatories on behalf of the employees were KOVO U. S. Steel Kosice Labor Union Council Chairman Mikulas Hintos and NKOS KOVO U. S. Steel Kosice Labor Union Branch Chairman Milan Beregszaszi, and U. S. Steel Kosice President David J. Rintoul and Vice President Human Resources Martin Pitorak on behalf of the employer. This amendment became valid on being signed by both parties to the agreement, and remains in force from January 1, 2013 until December 31, 2014.
USSK gains another important certificate
U. S. Steel Kosice manages its energy consumption efficiently and in compliance with the stipulations of international standard EN ISO 50001. This follows from the results of the certification audit which was performed at the end of March by the company TÜV SÜD Slovakia. The certificate confirming the successful implementation of the energy management system at the steelworks was presented by TÜV SÜD Slovakia General Manager Rudolf Ziak to USSK Vice President Technology Vladimir Jacko on March 28, 2013.
Welcome awaits our families at the Steelworks on June 1st
U. S. Steel Kosice's biggest annual event, which was inaugurated last year with the title Family Safety Day - Where does my father, my mother work? will be taking place on June 1 this year, on Children's Day itself, so it's going to be an excellent opportunity for a joint celebration. Every important detail concerning this event will be presented in an upcoming special edition of Ocel Vychodu, which will be delivered to the home mail-boxes of all employees in the next few days. Registration for the event starts on April 19.
Grand Opening of Eurest operations
Even though catering company Eurest has been providing meals and other services for USSK steelmakers since the beginning of this year, the official opening of its operations took place just at the end of last month. On Wednesday, March 27 the Repre dining area in USSK Public Access Area was the venue for the tape-cutting ceremony involving U. S. Steel Kosice President David J. Rintoul and Eurest Executive Director and Company Officer Bohumir Topinka.
HC Kosice in play-off finals with HKM Zvolen
In the semi-finals Kosice dealt with Nitra and Zvolen with Piestany, so now these two teams are in the finals of the ice-hockey Extra League 2012/2013 season. The fight for the twentieth title in the independent Slovakian league sees first-place Zvolen up against second-place Kosice. The final series began with two matches at the Zvolen rink, on Sunday, April 7 and Monday, April 8. The home team decided the first match 2:1 in their own favor, but only in a penalty shoot-out. In the second duel, although the Kosice team played a better game, in the end it was Zvolen who were victorious, taking the match score in the final series to 2:0 for themselves. The next two games will be played at the Steel Arena in Kosice on Thursday, April 11 and Friday, April 12.
