KOVO Labor Union conferences start
The months of March and April stand out in the work of the KOVO Labor Union at U. S. Steel Kosice as the period of assessment of labor union activity
during the preceding year. The first two of the twelve grass-root organizations at the steelworks balanced up their work last week, and the series of discussions continues with the turn of the
Steel Plants this week. Next week the union members at the Radiators and Pipes, Hot Rolling Mill and Coated Products and Tin Mill have their conferences, with further meetings planned in April.
These culminate on April 24 with the KOVO Labor Union Council Conference.
Apart from assessing the results of their work during the past year, the union members also adopt new objectives and tasks for the coming period. The hot topics are
collective bargaining and contracts of work for the employees of the steelmaking company, developments in grass-root membership in connection with the decreasing workforce at the steelworks, and
professionalization of the labor unions as approved by the latest KOVO Labor Union Congress.

Visitors will be able to go on a coach tour around the steelworks operations, or a guided tour of the wide-strip rolling train in the Hot Rolling Mill. The center of
events, as in the two previous editions, will be the parking lot outside the Research and Development building, where visitors both big and small will find a wide range of attractions. The grassy
area on the opposite side will be transformed into a large relaxation zone where children especially will come into their own. Registration starts on April 22, and the event is open to employees
of U. S. Steel Kosice and its subsidiary companies with their families - wives/husbands or partners, children and grandchildren.
