Family Safety Day attracts almost 4500 visitors

The best part of four and a half thousand steelmakers and their family members came together on May 31 of this year in the grounds of U. S. Steel Kosice for the third edition of the annual corporate event called "Where does my father, my mom work?" Family Safety Day. The event was officially opened jointly by U. S. Steel Kosice President George F. Babcoke, KOVO U. S. Steel Kosice Labor Union Council Chairman Mikulas Hintos, and General Manager Occupational Safety and Hygiene and REACH Mark T. Salo. Also taking part was U. S. Steel Corporation General Manager Occupational Safety and Hygiene Jeffery R. Dierdorf.
The greatest interest was stimulated by the plant tours, whether in buses around the whole steelworks, or walking through beside the hot wide-strip line inside the Hot Rolling Mill. These opportunities were taken up by almost 2400 employees with their families. There were crowds too around the nearly two dozen static attractions, which grabbed the attention of younger and older visitors alike. This successful event has more and more supporters and patrons year on year, all to the credit of the almost five hundred organizers from U. S. Steel Kosice itself and external sources.
