AmCham Slovakia organizes Jobs Market 2015 in Kosice
Twenty-two firms from various business sectors presented themselves at last week's Jobs Market 2015, organized on March 10 in Kosice by the American Chamber of
Commerce in the Slovak Republic. The event was officially opened by AmCham CEO Jake Slegers together with U. S. Steel Kosice Vice President Human Resources Martin Pitorak, and it
attracted hundreds of people interested not only in jobs as such, but also in obtaining information and contacts which might (especially in the case of university students) play a significant
role in their future working careers.
The Kosice steelworks had its own stand presenting the summer internship program, which is two months of work experience offering fourth-year students at
universities and colleges benefits which make it definitely worth applying for. Students who have completed the internship appreciate the opportunity to combine theoretical knowledge with
practical experience while still undergraduates, and the chance to get involved in the production and management activities of the Company, thus gaining basic leadership skills which are not part
of ordinary university or college studies. Apart from working on specific projects or tasks supervised by mentors who are experienced USSK employees, the interns are also given a training
program.
Support for six innovative ideas
The winners in the eighth edition of the annual grant program called Together for the Region are now known. The 76 successful projects in the program's history so far have been joined by another six. This program is the joint creation of U. S. Steel Kosice and the Carpathian Foundation, enabling non-profit organizations and local councils to apply for financial support in carrying out innovative projects promoting safety in all spheres of life, nature conservation, and better use of leisure time by children and young people. The official announcement of the winning projects for 2015 took place on Thursday of last week, March 12, on USSK premises. The common features of all the projects supported so far are firstly the active involvement of USSK employees, and secondly the ability to join forces and find partners from various fields for implementing ideas which should be beneficial for the local community. In the latest edition of the Together for the Region program, grants have been extended to two villages and four non-profit organizations.
