For modern women in the 21st century it may be hard to imagine not having the rights which they consider to be absolutely natural, for example not having the right to vote, like women in Czechoslovakia, the USA or the UK before the year 1920, or not being allowed to study and become lawyers, doctors or metallurgists. On March 8 we recalled International Women’s Day as a celebration of the social, economic and political successes of women all over the world. March is celebrated every year in the United States as the National Month of Women in History, remembering and honoring the key role of women in the history of the USA.
Although there are plenty of influential women in America, Slovakia and U. S. Steel at present, the way was paved for them by many others in the past. The Month of Women provides an opportunity to commemorate those women and to go on developing what they stood for. To celebrate women in U. S. Steel, the employee interest group called Women’s Inclusion Network (WIN) is holding a series of lectures for all employees given by our women leaders, including Katarína Fitzová, General Manager Home Market Sales, who will be speaking from 5.30 to 6.00 pm on March 19. President James Bruno invites our employees to join in the discussion with VIP guest Tracy Atkinson, a member of the Board of Directors of USS Corporation. The lecture will be introduced by USS President and CEO Dave Burritt and USS Vice President Christie Breves. The discussion will be taking place on March 23 from 2.00 to 3.00 pm our time, and you can register for both events at: usskwin@sk.uss.com.
