Last Friday, September 6, ancient Banská Štiavnica was the venue once again for another year's celebrations of Miners', Geologists', Steelmakers' and Oilmen's Day and the traditional Salamander Parade. At the official assembly and opening of the special day of celebration for these professions, ten Košice steelmakers were presented with medals by the Minister for Trade and Industry of the Slovak Republic, Peter Žiga.

To great applause from everyone present, of course including family members of the recipients, badges of honor entitled “For working loyalty” were presented to former U. S. Steel Košice Vice President Human Resources Martin Pitorák, railtruck repairs supervisor in the Rail Transport Maintenance operation of USSK Transportation Division František Albert, head of the Maintenance Coordination Department of the Steel Plants Division Ján Kavalec, operations electrician and foreman in the Primary Cranes Repair operation Tibor Kuzder, pressing shop foreman at RMS Košice, s r.o. Martin Mikita, designer at USSK subsidiary Obalservis s.r.o. Štefan Ruska, textile filters construction coordinator in the Blast Furnaces Division Tibor Szalona, head of the pipe-welding operation in the Pipes Division Imrich Takács, and VTZ specialist and crane-track technical inspector Vojtech Zvada, and the badge of honor entitled “For working dedication” was presented to machine maintenance supervisor on the electrolytic tin-plating lines and slitting lines of the Coated Products and Tin Mill Division Tibor Zeher.
