A new classroom called the INTERACTIVE RECYCLING AUDITORIUM (IRA) was opened last week by the Faculty of Materials, Metallurgy and Recycling at the Technical University of Košice at a ceremony attended by U. S. Steel Košice President James Bruno, TU Rector Stanislav Kmeť and the Dean of FMMR Iveta Vasková. The classroom comprises various interactive elements which are becoming everyday features in the modern teaching environment. It has been created thanks to financial support from U. S. Steel Košice, which cooperates closely with FMMR in the preparation of future specialists as well as in carrying out certain research and development projects. This classroom is characterized by special desk and floor elements featuring transparent polymer inlays designed with embedded waste materials. The objects incorporated in these elements indicate the Faculty's orientation towards recycling and the need for sustainability in the environment. This IRA will be used for classes in various courses of study.
