U. S. Steel Kosice has achieved special success in the competition for the National Enterprise Award for Environment in the Slovak Republic 2015, the results of which were announced on October 5 in Bratislava. The Company scored highly in two categories with its reconstruction and modernization project for the Sokolany waste water treatment plant, taking third place in the Process category and first place in the Business and Diversity category. The competition was organized by the Association for Industrial Ecology in Slovakia in cooperation with the SR Ministry for the Environment and the Representation of the European Commission in Slovakia. The awards are made every two years, and are presented as the "Slovakian environmental Oscars". The judging panel was chaired this year by Laszló Miklós, formerly SR Minister for the Environment, and the competition takes place in four categories: Environmental Mahnagement, Product, Process, and Business and Diversity.
