As many as 268 colleagues joined in the latest NextGen online session, and they most likely consisted of younger people, because NextGen is short for the next generation of USSK employees. This time the topic was environmental and social aspects of well-governed society, a complex which is often referred to today with the abbreviation ESG.
The lead speaker at the session was Norbert Kurilla, special adviser to the President of the Slovak Republic Zuzana Čaputová. He mentioned various activities of the President's Office related to carbon production and several ways of reducing the Office's carbon footprint. Through the application of modern technologies, creating a green roof and planting trees, the President's Office has got down to the level of 1.6 tons of CO2 per annum, and is surely the leader in such environmental efforts among all the state institutions in Slovakia.
Based on what we have seen and heard, we expect NextGen to make efforts to ensure that specific solutions linked to that topic are seen being implemented in and around the U. S. Steel Košice works. They have chosen the 'hackathon' method of generating ideas, which is especially popular in the IT field, and in our case we can look forward to solutions to various green issues, for instance the creation of cycle-trails or the introduction of electric cars at USSK. It looks like we'll soon be witnessing another NextGen session as well.
