Košice, 7th October 2010 - The House of Art in Košice today saw the official opening of an exhibition of paintings created during the Painters' Plein-air Session for U. S. Steel Košice employees together with professional artists from Eastern Slovakia. The fourth in the series of these interesting events took place from September 13th to 17th this year. Visual arts enthusiasts from among the steelworks employees teamed up with professional artists at the USSK Training Center in Medzev, where they worked together on the artistic portrayal of environmental issues. Many of them found inspiration directly in the iron and steel production process, which is rich in visual impressions. This creative session in the company of experienced artists - sculptor Arpád Račko and painters Tadeusz Blonský, Dušan Baláž, Pavol Kvoriak, Janka Onušková and Jozef Kravec - was an opportunity for the amateur artists to proceed in forming their artistic personalities as well as developing their knowledge and skills. The session also gave them the chance to compare each other's work, consult the experts about their own work, and to gain further inspiration.

"Diversity is a natural feature of business in our international corporation. We value the talents of our employees in various fields, and we support not only their professional growth, but also their artistic, sporting or charitative activities," said U.S. Steel Košice Public Affairs Director Ján Bača at the exhibition opening.

The artworks created at the hands of the fourteen local professional and amateur artists will remain on show to the general public in the House of Art's upstairs function room until October 28th, 2010.
