Areas of assistance
The whole event starts off at 6 a.m. on Friday with the "Steelmakers' Drop of Blood" donor drive at the Hematology and Transfusion Department of Kosice - Saca Hospital in the
U. S. Steel Public Access Area.

Archdiocesan Charity in Kosice or in the Oasis - Hope for a New Life charity home in Bernatovce. They can also make good use of non-perishable groceries, towels and bed-linen, kitchen utensils
and school articles, which can be taken to two places: the Autumn of Life Civic Association premises at 24, Trieda SNP and the House of Peaceful Old Age at 2, Juzna trieda, between 12 and 6 p.m.

On Saturday between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. volunteers will be able to help with renovating the outdoor and indoor gardens at the Uralska Street Foster Home in Kosice, and with completing the
children's playground at the Rubikon Autistic Center in Myslava. At the P. J. Safarik University Botanical Gardens, apart from working in the woodland park, they will be painting the benches and
gazebos with eco-friendly paint, and digging a channel for a man-made stream. In cooperation with the Metropol Ski Club they will be maintaining the cross-country skiing track at Kojsovska Hola
Sports Resort, at the Crisis Intervention Center in Cana they are going to put up fencing around the children's sandpit and do interior and exterior painting, and at the Slovak Union for the
Blind and Partially-sighted premises they will be mainly involved in safety painting of stairways, handrails and doorframes. Every year the steelmakers also help facilities for animals - in the
extensive rounds of Kosice Zoo they will be helping to renovate the stables and fences with protective paint, and at the Haniska Animal Shelter they intend to reconstruct the dog exercising
ground and cut grass and fire-wood.
Volunteer involvement
Every year about 500 employees of the steelmaking company, its subsidiaries and partner institutions join in the U. S. Steel Kosice Volunteer Days. This two-day event is the culmination
of the volunteer activities which the company organizes throughout the year. Some of the employees help in the long term as instructors within educational programs, while others participate as
active volunteers in charitable fund-raising and collections, or in organizing community life in this region.
