Annual Ball of the primary operations under the auspices of Cokery, Blast Furnaces and Steel Plants basic organizations of Kovo Labor Union.
“The fact that our people are able to work really well and safely is being proved every day in their workplaces, and we met this night here just to have a good time”, said Juraj Varga, chairman of the Steel Plants basic organization of Kovo Labor Union, to the participants of the Annual Ball of the primary operations, which was held on Friday, January 29, 2016. When opening the event he didn’t forget to say a big THANK YOU to all who actively participated in organizing this amusing carnival evening, mainly to Gabriela Vansová and Stanislava Šuťáková, who were acknowledged by the attenders with thankful applause and bunches of flowers.
Since the Steel Plants commemorate, in June of this year, fifty years since production of the first steel in basic oxygen furnaces in the former Czechoslovakia, he also commemorated a couple of figures of which we are rightly proud. During five decades the steelmakers have produced approximately 180 million tons of steel, which would be sufficient for production of rails that would encircle our globe 870 times. Annual steel production can be compared with the weight of 2.9 million passenger cars, or 730 thousand African elephants…
