On Monday, October 24, 2016 U. S. Steel Košice and the Carpathian Foundation opened the now 10th edition of the Together for the Region grant program, in which they will hand out 13 500 EUR to support publicly beneficial community projects. Nonprofit organizations and local governments in the Košice and Prešov self-governing regions in which employees of U. S. Steel Košice and its subsidiary companies take an active role can apply for a grant in this program. The grants with a maximum of 2 500 EUR each will support innovative projects aimed at increasing safety in all areas of life, meaningful free-time activities for children and young people, as well as environmental and educational activities.
“The Together for the Region program is a unique project since it is not only about giving our financial support, but also about the involvement and cooperation of our employees with other organizations. I am proud to see how they volunteer and get engaged in working for a good thing. This way special values are created and it helps us work actively and together for the region,” said steelworks President Scott Buckiso during the opening ceremony of the grand 10th edition of the program.
The U. S. Steel Košice grant program administrator is the Carpathian Foundation. Since its launch the program has supported 89 projects with the total sum of more than 228 000 EUR.
The deadline for receiving grant applications is set at January 16, 2017.
