The winner of the 95th edition of the annual Košice Peace Marathon, which took place on Sunday, October 7 in our city, was the Kenyan Raymond Choge with a time of 2h08m11s. In the women's category a new course record was set by another Kenyan Miliam Ebongon in 2h27m16s). The best Slovak Tibor Sahajda came home in 8th place with a time of 2h15m59s, which is the fifth best Slovak performance in the history of the KPM.

On the half-marathon course the Czech Jiří Petr successfully defended his victory from last year (1h10m59s), and similarly the women's race produced another win by the Slovak Veroníka Zrastáková (1h19m51s). The nine different competitions which made up this event on the first Sunday in October attracted a total of 13 848 runners, naturally including endurance specialists from U. S. Steel Košice. Our employees took part in the full marathon, half marathon, mini-marathon and the 4 x ¼ marathon relay.

The fastest steelmaker in the full marathon was Jozef Sciranko with a time of 3h07m02s, finishing in 86th place out of a starting line-up of 1316 men, and out of 210 women it was Alžbeta Tiszová who came home in 69th place in 4h03m07s.
