We now know the best projects in the section of U. S. Steel Košice Vice President Information Technology for the second and third quarters of 2017. Progress in the Carnegie, Our Way transformation process during these two quarters was assessed at the meetings of the winning teams, which took place on December 20 and 21 with VP IT Richard Shank in attendance.
In the second quarter of last year, first place was taken by the Disk Array Replacement project, which dealt with the installation of new server disk sets replacing older ones and those with expiring leasing agreements, as well as the migration of all USSK data to a new environment. The best project in the IT section in the third quarter of 2017 was Consolidation of Truck Transport, the aim of which was to set up a web portal enabling truck loading to be planned with accuracy down to one hour. This measure will lead to more regular distribution of truck loading throughout the day, as well as considerable shortening of loading time, two improvements which will cut the costs incurred in the road transportation of material to our customers. An additional advantage is that the work involved in ordering the truck-loading will be shifted from our logistical servicers staff to the transport providers.
