As is now the tradition, this New Year's Eve saw top managers of U. S. Steel Košice joining with members of the City's leadership at steelworks gate no. 2 to welcome employees arriving for the night shift. The Mayor was represented this time by the second man of Košice Martin Petruško. Vice Presidents Miroslav Kiraľvarga, Martin Pitorák, Marcel Novosad and Richard Shank as well as labor union representatives Juraj Varga and Bartolomej Feničin came to greet the people ensuring the running of the Company's continuous operations and together wish them all the best in the new year 2018.

Cordial handshakes, wishes of good health and chocolate horseshoes for luck conjured up smiles on many steelmakers' faces, even if they had a demanding night shift ahead of them. The management members left the steelworks an hour before midnight after conveying the same wishes and seeing off the last people from the afternoon shift, who were hurrying home in time to see in the New Year together with their nearest and dearest.
