Košice is now several new trees richer. This is the result of a special volunteering event which steelmakers took part in on April 24, emphasizing the fact that Košice is this year’s European Capital of Volunteering. In cooperation with City Hall and the Municipal Greenery Department, our colleagues planted out thirteen large trees in the Municipal Park, aiming to enhance the city’s greenery to the benefit of its residents and visitors.

Those coming to lend a hand included U. S. Steel Košice President James Bruno and his wife, Deputy Mayor Lucia Gurbáľová, and several members of USSK top management: Vice Presidents Elena Petrášková, Marcel Novosad, Silvia Gaálová and Miroslav Kiraľvarga with his wife, as well as the managers from the Environmental Department led by General Manager Miloš Fodor, who are regular volunteers and participants in the Steelmakers for Košice Volunteer Days, the thirteenth annual edition of which takes place this coming Friday and Saturday, May 17 and 18. The working team was supplemented by the USSK marathoners and employees of the SMZ magnesite company.
