University students among potential employees

Following last year's good experience the American Chamber of Commerce in Slovakia recently organized the second edition of its Jobs and Internship Fair in Kosice. This event, intended primarily for university and college students, took place on Wednesday of last week, March 9th, in the House of Art, and once again met with a tremendous response. The stand of U. S. Steel Kosice, one of the event's principal sponsors, was busy the whole day. Students were interested in job vacancies, job selection conditions, and the summer internship program. A special presentation about U. S. Steel Kosice was given by Vice-president Personnel and Organization Martin Pitorak.

International conference in Tatranske Matliare

From March 7th to 11th the Hutnik Hotel in Tatranske Matliare was the venue for the 13th edition of the international conference Heating 2005. This event was attended by specialists in the fields of central heating and power generation, designers of technical equipment for buildings, operators of power-generating utilities, capital investors in civil engineering and power generation, representatives of housing associations and local authorities, as well as science, research and education professionals. Taking part in the conference this year for the first time were also representatives of U. S. Steel Kosice. Our company also had a presentational info counter set up in the vicinity of the conference rooms, presenting Korad radiators and the TechCON computer software for calculating central heating system capacities and radiator dimensions.

Cassovia Stars take on the Bohemia Steelers

While the Kosice Ice-hockey Club were playing their national league quarter-final matches away in Nitra (from which they emerged as victors and went through to the semi-finals, in which they will be meeting Zvolen), on Thursday of last week the Kosice ice was used by hockey players from U. S. Steel Kosice. Our representatives from the ranks of management and sales staff made up the Cassovia Stars team, and in their fourth match together they took on the team of Czech customers called Bohemia Steelers.
In the three preceding games together it was our guests who came off better. The Kosice players won the first game only with a score of 2:1, and in the next two matches the guests then emerged as victors with scores of 6:3 and 4:0. The Cassovia Stars players prepared very thoroughly for this fourth meeting of the teams. The home team in fact featured HC Kosice President Lubomir Veme as a guest player, and another curiosity was that on the day of the match a special guest invited by our team flew in from the USA - Jonathan Weinstein from Metallia. After the game he went straight back overseas, so his action can be termed nothing other than love for the sport.
The match started with the official bully-off, thrown in Vice-president Commercial Joseph R. Scherrbaum, and it was attended by various guest spectators including U. S. Steel Kosice President Christopher Navetta. The first period was very balanced, but in the other two periods the Cassovia Stars players outplayed their ambitious opponents and proved capable of turning their attacking activity into effective shooting. The home team won 6:0 (0:0, 3:0, 3:0).
