American Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors at USSK

On Wednesday, September 21st at U. S. Steel Kosice there was a session of the Board of Directors of the American Chamber of Commerce in Slovakia. The Board members were welcomed by USSK President David H. Lohr. Speaking to Ocel Vychodu, Board Chairman Róbert Simoncic said that while the AmCham Board sessions are usually held regularly once a month, last week's was in fact the first one following the summer holidays.
"We discussed several strategic affairs and reviewed the latest period, and we assessed what we are planning to carry out in the coming months. We also talked about the legislative issues we are going to be engaged with in one way or another," Róbert Simoncic said, and added that in October the American Chamber of Commerce is preparing another Business Club, to which it has invited the Presidents and CEO's of all the large Slovak and foreign companies operating in this region, as well as representatives of the executive powers and the political sphere.
They will be discussing foreign investments, which are still very topical and interesting for Slovakia. Simoncic went on to point out that at events of this kind U. S. Steel Kosice is itself often cited as an example of an American company that has successfully established itself in Slovakia, and now shares to a significant degree in the development of the East Slovakian region.

Meeting of long-serving employees

The first in this year's series of meetings attended by U. S. Steel Kosice President David H. Lohr, his wife Susan, company Vice-presidents and other top managers took place on Friday of last week. At these celebration dinners every long-serving employee receives a memorial plaque and a letter of thanks from Company President David Lohr. Women who have been employed at the steelworks for 35 or 40 years, and men for 40 years, get additional appreciation in the form of a wristwatch.
