American analysts at the steelworks
A three-member team of American investment analysts led by U. S. Steel Corporation Investor Relations Manager Nick Harper visited U. S. Steel
Kosice on Monday of this week, September 25th 2006. At their meeting with USSK President David H. Lohr and other top managers they learned of the Company's business plan, production program and
the markets where our products are headed and the industrial branches in which they are used.
Their one-day visit also featured a plant tour taking in selected divisional plants and operational units. Accompanied by President David Lohr the guests looked
round Steel Plant I, the Hot and Cold Strip Mills, Coated Products Division and the hall of the new Hot-dip Galvanizing Line now under construction. The information processed by these investment
analysts is important for the decision-making by current and potential share-holders investing in the Corporation and thus strengthening its position on the stock-market.
State Fire-prevention Authority at USSK
For the third week now U. S. Steel Kosice has been undergoing an inspection by the State Fire-prevention Authority. Ocel Vychodu has been informed by Emil Seliga, Head of the Specialist Services Department at the USSK Works Fire-fighting Unit, that this is a comprehensive inspection which all divisional plants are to undergo progressively. According to its schedule this inspection is expected to continue until the end of this month.
Another investor shapes up to come here
Twenty foreign companies now in the final phases of their investment projects, expected to create a combined total of around 3200 job opportunities through the investment of up to 140 million USD, have been attracted to Eastern Slovakia to date by the U. S. Steel Kosice Economic Development Center since its establishment in 2001. Before the end of this year the EDC team plans to take part in several promotional events organized by its partner organizations in Europe, where it will make known as widely as possible the investment opportunities still existing in the Kosice and Presov regions. There are some other projects in the pipeline, and the EDC expects that in the very near future they will be able to announce the arrival of another new foreign investor here in Kosice.
