Students: David H. Lohr is TOP manager
Which manager of a Slovak firm or branch of a foreign firm operating in Slovakia is a synonym for you of successfulness, entrepreneurial skill, and human and professional quality? That was the principal question in the survey undertaken last year by the young people's non-profit civic association called Junior Chamber International Slovakia. Today we now know the results. The respondents from twenty secondary schools and twenty university faculties in all regions of Slovakia decided that the TOP manager in Slovakia for the year 2006 in the category of manufacturing companies operating in this country would be U. S. Steel Kosice President David H. Lohr. The survey was carried out with a representative sample of 1400 students.
KORAD radiators attract attention once again
From February 26th to March 2nd Tatranske Matliare was the venue for the 15th edition of the annual international conference named Vykurovanie (Heating Systems) 2007, prepared by the Slovakian Environmental Technology Society, a member of the Union of Slovakian Scientific and Technical Societies. The specialist guarantor of the conference was Professor Dusan Petras, who has also visited U. S. Steel Kosice several times to look at the KORAD radiators production process, or to discuss our marketing activities. It was he who three years ago personally pointed out the possibility of active participation by the Kosice steelmakers in this, one of the most important conferences in Slovakia. The result is that USSK has now appeared at this event for the second year running, with lectures and its own exhibition, and last but not least as one of the principal sponsors. As such USSK had the privilege of opening the welcoming meeting together with the conference organizers, during which participants in the event expressed their interest in U. S. Steel Kosice and its products.
Jobs and Internships Fair
The American Chamber of Commerce in Slovakia has organized the eighth in its series of annual Jobs and Internships Fairs, which took place on February 20th this year in Bratislava, and again last week in the House of Technology in Kosice. Here the Jobs and Internships Fair featured more than thirty companies, and this chance to gain information about opportunities on the job market being offered by Slovak and foreign firms operating in various sectors was not wasted by the young people visiting the Fair. One of the most "besieged" stands was the one presenting U. S. Steel Kosice.

The fair covered an area measuring the best part of 29 000 square meters and had 550 local and foreign exhibitors. Slovakia was represented by radiators produced at U. S. Steel Kosice.
Brilliant performances by the favorites
Following the ice-hockey players, last Saturday saw the next contest for medals in the course of our Winter Olympic Games, this time involving the cross-country skiers. After four years of Olympic races at Hnilec, the unfavorable snow conditions there this season forced the group of steelmakers with cross-country skis to move up to the skiing center at Kojsovska hola (Kojsov Fell). In the Men's Under-35 category first place was taken by Pavol Paprcka, the Under-50's was won by Jozef Sciranko, and the Over-50's winner for the third time now was Michal Dutko. Monika Kurtyova won gold medal in the Women's Under-40 class, Hildegarda Dioszegiova in the Under-50's, and the Over-50's Women's group was dominated by Margareta Korcekova.
