Kosice team turns up with novel exhibition
From March 6th to 10th the paths of specialists, technicians and sales staff in the field of central heating and air-conditioning systems, swimming-pools and energy-saving buildings all led to the ISH 2007 trade fair in Frankfurt, Germany. This event had the best part of 2400 exhibitors from 58 countries around the world, and attracted the interest of 200 000 visitors. In terms of its quality and the high standard of its services, this Frankfurt fair ranks among the best in the world. As well as exhibitions, it puts on high-value accompanying programs - lectures, conferences and press briefings for the specialist public. U. S. Steel Kosice presented a new exhibition in Germany, which visitors will be able to see in a range of different spatial arrangements at all the relevant trade fairs throughout this year. The exhibition's supporting structure is made from the latest aluminum construction material hung with blue acrylate panels, and the stand's graphics are designed to match the new visualization of the Company's catalogs and brochures.
How are we getting on with foreign languages?
All U. S. Steel Kosice employees who attend language courses take a test once a year with the aim of finding out what progress they have made in their language learning. The test consists of a written part and a short oral interview in English wiith teachers from a reputable language school holding a British Council certificate. Last year a total of 1797 employees attended language courses, 1757 of them English. U. S. Steel Kosice applies a scale of seven language-skill levels, and the progress tests so far have shown that most employees have knowledge/skills in the range of levels two, three and four.
Sales staff and customers on the ice
It was four years ago that USSK sales staff had the idea of organizing ice-hockey matches between themselves and our customers in the Czech Republic. Last year their common duel was played for the first time in the Steel Arena. We won that one easily 8:2, so this year the guests are surely going to want to even up the match score. They will be playing each other again on Thursday of next week, March 22nd, when the two teams taking to the ice at 8 pm in the Steel Arena will be the USSK sales staff with the new name of Kosice Super Stars and the Czech customers playing under the tried-and-tested name of Bohemian Steelers. Our steelmakers taking part in this duel form this squad of players: M. Kiralvarga Jr. (goalman), Kovac, Jesensky, Rogers, M. Kiralvarga Sr., Bolf, Maďar, Kuzar, Rusic, Veme, Sestak, Bajus, Palai, Udodik, Kunc, Lang, Duff and Perun. The Bohemia Steelers guest team consist of players from the firms Bohemia USSK, IT Bohemia, Metalimex, Ferona Praha, Korado, Metal Trade Comax, KK Metal, Ferona Slovakia, Milfor Steel, Ferona Ceske Budějovice, Ferona Hradec Kralove and Sambud 2 from Poland.
Our Bartova heads for Tokio
This year has started very successfully for the figure-skaters of the Kraso Centrum Club in Kosice, which is sponsored by U. S. Steel Kosice. In January Warsaw, Poland was the venue for the European Championships in figure-skating and ice-dance, with Radka Bartova, a member of that club, on the starting list. Under the guidance of trainer Hanka Toczikova, she performed very well in the strong competition to find the champions of Europe. Even though she is just 17 years old and usually competes in the Juniors category, among the women in the capital of Poland she fought her way through to the final round itself, where she ultimately took 23rd place. By doing so, this talented Kosice girl has qualified for the World Championships in Japan, March 19th to 25th 2007.
