USSE Research is forty years old
To mark the occasion of the fortieth anniversary of the commencement of research at the Kosice steelworks, USSE Research recently put on a very interesting event.
The Open Day which they organized last Friday, October 10th, attracted dozens of curious visitors who wanted to find out something more about the researchers' work. They were able to take a look
at their specialist workshops and modern laboratories, and they learned some intriguing facts about the work of the research and development team. The level of fascination was high.
Family members came, as well as former employees, colleagues from other scientific research centers, and students. They were most interested in the guided tour round
the metallography lab and the steelmaking and rolling workshops. The program was enhanced with films presenting the life and work of the researchers and the company U. S. Steel Kosice,
archive photographs and written documents tracing the forty-year history of the organization. All the visitors admired the modern instruments which the facilities are equipped with, and the
highly technical skills of the research team.
Brother's Brother Foundation consignment reaches Slovakia

The originator of this consignment, which has been donated by the Brother's Brother Foundation in Pittsburgh, was the Slovak Honorary Consul in Pennsylvania and founder of the West Pennsylvania Slovaks' Cultural Association, Joseph T. Senko. Transport costs were paid by U. S. Steel Kosice, and administrative liaison with Slovak government departments was assisted and coordinated by the Embassy of the USA in the Slovak Republic from its offices in Bratislava. The contents of the truck consisted of both new and used health-care equipment worth more than 40 000 US dollars, and the consignment has been shared out between the Cergov Retirement Home and Guest-house, the Retirement Home and Social Services Center in Svidnik, and the J. F. Colbrie Home for Peaceful Old Age on Juzna trieda (South Drive) in Kosice.
