Prestgious certificate for USSK subsidiary Obal-Servis
Only six firms in Slovakia can boast of holding the title "Safe Company". Since last week that number also includes U. S. Steel Kosice subsidiary Obal-Servis, a.s. Kosice. The certificate was issued to the company by the Slovak Ministry of Labor, Social and Family Affairs. It confirms that the company has implemented an effective management system for occupational safety and health protection, and has attained the required standard of care for its employees' working conditions. At the same time, holding this certificate commits the company to continuous further improvement of those working conditions, the working environment and labor relations, and raising the standard of occupational safety and health protection, and of working culture.
Metalurg U. S. Steel Kosice Trades Union Council has new Chairman
The new Chairman of Metalurg U. S. Steel Kosice Trades Union Council from November 6th is Mikulas Hintos. The newly-elected Chairman, who was elected directly out of the group of 15 Council members, will hold this post until the full union elections, which should be held around 18 months from now. In his own words, the new union leader intends to proceed with fulfilling the Trades Union Council program, and his priority with regard to the global crisis is to maintain the employment level in the Company.
Most successful movies now in Kosice
The collection of the most successful movies about sustainable development for life from the festival Ekotopfilm 2008 has moved from Bratislava to Kosice. From November 11th to 14th the residents of Kosice and visitors to the city have an excellent opportunity to see some unique pictures of the life of our planet. Among o hers, there are the movies which won the Grand Prix of Ekotopfilm, the U. S. Steel Kosice Prize, and the Kosice City Mayor's Prize. Continuing its Tour of Slovakia, from November 20th to 22nd the festival collection will be making its debut visit to the city of Presov.
