U. S. Steel Kosice presence at ProEduco exhibition
The group of almost fifty exhibitors at the second edition of the annual ProEduco exhibition in Kosice last week naturally included U. S. Steel Kosice and
the secondary schools in the city that the Company works with most closely - the Vocational School for Metallurgy in Saca and the Technical Schools for Metallurgy and for Electrotechnology. They
enjoyed the special interest of the visitors, particularly of the younger ones who are now making up their minds where to go after finishing elementary or secondary school, but also of people
seeking employment. Integrated into this forum for education, careers and innovation were several accompanying events.
A workshop prepared by the Education Department of the Kosice Self-governing Region focused on the issues connected with setting up specialist education centers in
secondary schools. These centers will help the students in the schools where they are located, but also those from other schools with related specialisms, to make the most of their education in
qualitatively new conditions, focusing on new technologies and clearly considering the requirements of practice. Several employers have already expressed interest in supporting such centers, and
they will be able to use them for retraining their own employees. The proposal for setting up specialist education centers was jointly presented by the Vocational School for Transport (a center
for automobile transport), the Vocational School in Kosice-Saca (a center for steel-making) and the Vocational School on Kukucinova Street in Kosice (for civil engineering).
