Q1 award for USSK from Ford Motor Company
Ford notified U. S. Steel Kosice this week that we have been awarded Q1 status for 2011. The Ford Q1 program is a set of fundamental quality and
manufacturing disciplines that are used to ensure success and drive continuous improvement through Ford's supply base. To become a strategic partner with Ford the Q1 designation is mandatory. In
2002 we began shipping CR product to Ford's locations in Belgium, UK, and Germany. We increased our participation further when we began shipping from our new hot dip galvanizing line in 2007,
which is when we began the certification process. This designation should help USS further strengthen it's participation into Ford's facilities across Europe.
Congratulations to the entire Sales, Customer Technical Service, and Quality organizations that participated in this effort. It is truly the culmination of many
years of effort and a step in the right direction as U.S. Steel Europe implements its value added strategy. Obtaining the Q1 status will allow U. S. Steel Europe to fly the Q1 flag as a
sign that our facility is world class and gives us a preferred status with Ford enabling us to be considered for new product development and future sourcing.
