To Brno with the motto: CLOSE TO YOU
There's less than two weeks to go now till the opening of the international engineering trade fair in Brno, Czech Republic. From Monday to Friday, September 10 - 14, hundreds of local and foreign exhibitors will be presenting themselves at our western neighbors' biggest fair, among them also U. S. Steel Kosice. The popularity of this event, the most important of its kind in Central Europe, is confirmed by the fact that last year the best part of 1600 companies had stands presenting their business, and the fair pavilions with a combined area of 41 000 m2 took in almost 80 000 visitors. Apart from the commercial aspect, the organizers promise a wide-ranging accompanying program including several specialist conferences, seminars and workshops on various current topics. Our participation in the Brno Fair will be an ideal opportunity for building customer relations and strengthening our position on the Central European market.
New refractory concrete for pusher furnace No.2
The months of July and August have been devoted to repair work in the Hot Rolling Mill Division. In the middle of this vacation period our specialists undertook to put not only the hot wide-strip rolling line in order, but pusher furnace no.2 as well. Both cases involved planned medium overhauls. The focus of the pusher furnace overhaul was the replacement of the floor of the furnace with its guide grooves, which was carried out in cooperation with employees of the Hot Rolling Mill Divsion, USSK subsidiary RMS and specialists from USSE's R&D section. A new type of refractory concrete was applied to the furnace floor. All the work was completed between June 30 and August 14.
Family Safety Day extended to Sunday morning, September 23
Due to the great interest in the event entitled "Where does my father, my mother work?", otherwise known as Family Safety Day, the activities are being extended to Sunday morning, September 23, from 9 am to 1 pm. Visitors will be able to enjoy the same rich program as on the Saturday, with the chance to choose a guided tour of the Hot Rolling Mill, or a bus tour around the whole steelworks, with refreshments supplied and many competition activities laid on for children. Those interested can still apply using the internet, intranet or telephone until September 12, or until visitor capacity is reached, whichever is earlier. The event is reserved for U. S. Steel Kosice employees and their immediate family members - spouses, partners and children.
