Steel Kosice, City Hall, the Technical University of Kosice, P. J. Safarik University and the Slovak Academy of Sciences in Kosice. S. Steel Kosice President George F. Babcoke. "We have worked hard and long for this day," the President told the event participants. "I remember the time in 2010 when we all met on these premises. It was an old and neglected army building. We set up the Kosice 2013+ association, whose aim was to support the successful implementation of the European Capital of Culture project and achieve its long-term sustainability," he went on, and added: "It was also at that time that the idea of creating the Steel Park was born."

Construction of industrial and logistics park starts at Velka Ida

Eastern Slovakia is to have another, new industrial and logistics park, and it is set to develop near the village of Velka Ida, right beside the U. S. Steel Kosice works. Last Wednesday, October 2, saw the beginning of its construction, preceded by the ceremonial tapping of the foundation stone. In addition to the investors, this act naturally involved diplomats, delegates from the national parliament and local government, and representatives of U. S. Steel Kosice as well. The Kosice steelworks itself will be a close neighbour of this industrial park, the distance between them being just four kilometers. The advantage of this strategic position for development is confirmed by the proximity of main transport arteries (interstate road E50 and railroad), as well as Kosice airport. The industrial park already has its own first investor too, the company IEE Sensing Slovakia, which is involved in the production of sensors for the automobile industry.
