Power Engineering Division Plant with one and a half a million hours worked with no injury
The Power Engineering Division Pla nt became in recent days another division plant which managed to exceed the level of one million, five thousand worked hours with no injury. They achieved the above success on August 15, 2015. The effort of the team that completes tasks in a difficult environment - boiler room, engine room, technical gases or water service operations, maintenance, or also electric power distribution, was appreciated last week, on Wednesday August 26, by the President of U. S. Steel Kosice Scott Buckiso who met at Canteen 1500 on working breakfast a team of almost two hundred power engineers representing the employees of the division plant. The meeting was also attended by Marcel Novosad, Vice President Operations U. S. Steel Kosice, Róbert Meitner, Deputy General Manager Safety & Industrial Hygiene USSK, and Peter Gazsi, General Manager Production Support. Of course, Pavel Orszag, Director Power Engineering Division Plant was not missing.
Regular quarterly communication meeting
Regular quarterly communication meeting called by the President of U. S. Steel Kosice was held on Tuesday August 25, 2015. Almost three hundred managers from all organizational units of the Company attended two meetings - in the morning and in the afternoon. The agenda included information on the Company's financial performance for the 1st half of 2015 and the outlook by the end of the year, the Carnegie Way transformation process, as well as the steps for making the Company's activities more effective.
Schools opened their gates
Yesterday, on September 2, after a two-month holidays the school gates were opened again also for the students of more than forty high schools falling within the establishing authority of the Kosice Self-governing Region. As well as in previous years, also in the new school year U. S. Steel Kosice will cooperate with several partners in education, professional development, and training of students for future employment, based on concluded agreements. In addition to the cooperation in the development of educational programs in selected fields of study and education, dozens of the third and fourth year students of the Secondary Vocational School in Kosice-Saca will gain work experience through traineeships at respective operations of the Kosice Steelworks. The Company will participate in the training of future specialists also at the Secondary Vocational School of Railway Transport in Kosice and its subsidiaries at the Secondary Technical School in Kosice and the Secondary Vocational School of Transport in Kosice.
Talented metallurgists created in Medzev
From August 22 to August 29 the Medzev Training Center became a venue of already the ninth edition of the "Metallurgists Paint with Artists" plain-air. Also the metallurgists who like to take pictures of the world around them with their cameras met here for the second time. The organizers will show the best artistic work from both events at the traditional exposition "Metallurgists on Canvases and Pictures 2015." The exposition will take place on the premises of the Palace of Arts in Kosice from October 14 to October 31, 2015.
