More than 200 specialists from a wide range of fields in commercial, economic and cultural life in Slovakia and Ukraine came together at the Barracks/Culturepark center on Wednesday, April 27 for the Slovak-Ukrainian Forum 2016. This event was organized as part of the Ukrainian Days in Košice by the Feman Association, the American Chamber of Commerce in the Slovak Republic, the Slovakian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Slovak-Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and other partners, and the program was based on several fundamental themes.

One of these was the promotion of Eastern Slovakia focusing on the city of Košice and the exploitation of its potential for the development of cross-border cooperation between Slovakia and Ukraine, especially concerning economic, commercial and cultural issues, the growth of tourism, and the sphere of innovative approaches in the power, technology, science and industry sectors. The participants also discussed issues such as the import-export certification of goods and services, industrial parks in the Košice and Prešov Self-governing Regions and in Ukraine, and possibilities for cooperation between commercial companies in both countries and the effectiveness of its development. The conference was also attended by U. S. Steel Košice President Scott Buckiso and Director Energy Efficiency Management Ján Blanár, who joined in the discussions on the efficiency of energy production and consumption.
