The Faculty of Materials, Metallurgy and Recycling at the Technical University of Košice continues to be led by Assoc. Prof. Ing. Iveta Vasková, PhD, who was inaugurated as Dean for the second time on Tuesday, February 5 of this year. In the interview she explains that the change in the name of the Faculty of Metallurgy was the outcome of a long-term process of development, so that the current name represents the complete life of materials from primary production through processing and all the way to recycling.

The Faculty has been fundamentally restructured, which included the slimming down of administration and the transformation of the eight former departments into three institutes. The Faculty now faces a period of attuning its system of internal functioning, and of raising the standard of its students, because without knowledge of mathematics, chemistry and physics they cannot complete their studies there. The Faculty is now trying to attract students from other countries, and they want to open a cross-sectional course of study taught in English up to Bakalár degree level. Dean Vasková considers the Faculty's cooperation with USSK as being very good, and trusts that it will continue in the fields of teaching and research.
