FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT 2019
Summer Sports Games
April and June were reserved for the annual football tournament of U. S. Steel Košice. This year it started with the game between Blast Furnaces - Steel Shop on Friday, April 26, at the Technical University stadium in Košice. In this 58th tournament seven teams competed for the championship in two groups. Each team played the other teams in their group and the two top teams in each group qualified for the semifinals. The losing semifinalists then played for third place and the winners played in the final.
The Champions' title and the President's Cup were taken by the Steel Shop team, who won the final match against Transport. The bronze medals went to the Cokery team, who beat Ferroenergy team.
The best goalkeeper of the tournament was Stanislav Suchý (Steel Shop) , the best defender was Ján Rentka (Cokery), the most versatile player was Lukáš Lindvai (Transport) and the top scorers with 5 goals each were Viktor Čomor (Steel Shop), Roland Demko (Ferroenergy) and Jozef Kandráč (Steel Shop).
